Top Five Bookish Movies Every Book Lover Needs To Watch

In today’s book post, I have decided to compile a list of movies I absolutely adored beyond measure. They all focus on a bookish theme in some form or another. As much as I love to read a lot, there always time to enjoy a good movie and unwind. I hope you enjoy the list I have put together.

Many of these movies I have seen more than once! ♥

I would like everyone to pay special attention to movie #1 on our list titled The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society. I have placed this one on the very top of the list for a reason. It is easily my current favorite movie on earth. It has everything that I love as reader and movie goer.

The movie is filled with drama, love, books, writing, history, and everything my heart desires. It has all the feels! The main character, whose name is Juliet is everything I admire and strive to be. She is serious goals! The book this movie is based off, I have recently read also, and is definitely worth picking up. The emotions, drama, and history cannot be matched.

#1 The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

London, 1946. Juliet (Lily James), a charismatic and free-spirited writer receives a letter from a member of a mysterious literary club started in Nazi-occupied Guernsey. Her curiosity piqued, Juliet decides to visit.

There she meets the delightfully eccentric members of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, including Dawsey (Michiel Huisman), the rugged and intriguing farmer who wrote her the letter. As the secrets from their wartime past unfold, Juliet’s growing attachment to the island, the book club and her affection will change the course of her life.

#2 The Book Thief

#3 The Reader

#4 The Dead Poet’s Society

Neil ( Robert Sean Leonard), who dreams of being an actor, despite the objections of his father; Knox (Josh Charles), a hopeless romantic; Steven (Allelon Ruggiero), an intellectual who learns to use his heart as well as his head; Charlie (Gale Hansen), who begins to lose his blasé attitude.

Unconventional Gerard (James Waterston); and practical Richard (Dylan Kussman). Dead Poets Society was nominated for four Academy Awards.

#5 Beauty & The Beast ( 2017 )

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle.

Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar (R) winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe (R) nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord.
