The Lives of Many – A Poem For The Love Of Books Written by Samantha Sebesta

Then I turned spy; planning a ship to sink. I saw nations fall; what do you think?

Alright, so this is going to be a very quick post this time, I promise. No, I am not lying! In my last post, I discussed one of my old blogs called Samantha The Reader, and honestly, it inspired me to revisit some of my past works and give them a whole new life. A lot of them could really benefit from a new fresh edit. There is a lot, more than I would ever care to admit, in my drafts that need to get published. Today, I’m excited to share a poem from my archive titled The Lives of Many.

When I wrote this poem it was to express the profound joy and sense of adventure that reading often brings. I had wanted to capture the essence of how books allows us to live countless lives through their pages. There is a sort of magic that literature offers. They take readers outside of themselves into a world that is much bigger than any one person. Enjoy!

The Lives Of Many

By Samantha Sebesta

I am most blessed; today saw journeys aplenty
I was a royal princess; stronger than they think
As my eyes leaped from page to page
Living the lives of many

Then I turned spy; planning a ship to sink
I saw nations fall; what do you think?
Book to book: There I go!
Living the lives of many

Yesterday I found myself; trapped was I
Triumph and defeats; they are all mine
Word for word; always changing
Living the lives of many

Ocean to Ocean; where haven’t I been?
Person to Person; who haven’t I been?
Letter to Letter; I am all of them
Living the lives of many

Reading by far is no contest; it is the very best
I get to be anything; blessed am I
Turning page after page ; It is no test
Living the lives of many.
